Free IPod Shuffle...

Lloyds TSB have got a student offer of a free IPod Shuffle when you open a student account! :j

I have placed this in the grabbit board and not the student one as it's a "while stocks last" offer so you need to be quick, as stocks will most likely be limited.

From the terms I've read, all you need to do is open the student account and deposit £500 before October 31st and you get your free Ipod Shuffle. There doesn't seem to be no minimum term period and no further deposits are necessary, from what I've read, but double check yourselves before opening it.

Therefore you can open it, put the £500 in, wait for your free Ipod Shuffle, then close it and move to the next student account deal! ;)

Link below for details. Hope you all get your free Ipod Shuffle...

So if anyone's got kids goingto University or if you know someone who is, let them know of the offer and get as much off Lloyds TSB as you can! :T

apart from every time u open a current account = credit check. Too many of them = bad credit score.

not sure it would be worth the hassle for a £50 ipod shuffle. And no doubt the "while stocks last" would come in and you wouldn't get one anyway.

Need credit to buy a house, get a loan when you need it, get a credit card when you need it - mobile phones etc, credit rating can affect lots of things. I don't think applying for one extra account will do much harm though, would just be a problem if maybe you had opened around 2 already in the past year (would look rather suspicious).

yeah i know credit is important of course.

The accounts have all been opened in the past 2 years but i can't belive it would have that much effect on credit ratings, as long as I pay them all back.
What's it going to be, eh?

one thing about the lloyds account that i nearly missed...

It says the overdraft is £1500 but in the first year its only interest free on the first £1000 and goes up £250 a year.
In my experience, other banks just increase the overdraft year by year.
What's it going to be, eh?

One extra credit check isn't going to hurt your score anywhere near enough to consider, lenders know credit checks arnt inherently bad for your credit, just many at the same time are.

If you change every year or just have a couple of checks near each other it shouldnt be a problem.

They may find out you already have a student account if you dont switch in which case they may close your account and demand anything they are owed back. You will be asked to declare other accounts when you sign up and failure to declare basically allows them to do what they want if they find out. Banks have been sharing information about students over the last couple of years to catch people with more than one overdraft, I don't know about Lloyds, you might get away with if if your with Natwest of HSBC. You will almost certainly be caught if you do it with banks owned by each other or with good relationships, RBS/Natwest, Barclays/Woolwich etc.
