Hi
My 28 yr old son would like to open a current account, but has been refused due to previous credit score.
Is there a way around this, or a different account he could open maybe?
Thanks.

Get him to check is credit file and look for a reason as to why it was declined.
Who was the bank who declined him?
It may be best to start off with a basic account at any high street bank, (not credit checked) and then create a history of good account conduct with means to getting it upgraded in 6-12 months time to a full current account.0 -
Thank you for reply
It was Alliance & Leicester, also Halifax that refused him.
Is there a web site i could check his rating on?
Ok so a basic account would enable him to get a good credit rating then?

He can get access to his credit report online from https://www.creditexpert.co.uk
He will need to prove who he is and they will do an ID check etc... but once he has access he can see his account conduct on credit commitments, electorol roll status, defaults, address details etc... essentially all that the lender will see.
Getting a basic account will not get him a good record overall, however it will allow him to build up a relationship with a bank who will in future upgrade his account to one of full status which will be reported positively in his credit file.0
