Calling UK premium rate numbers from abroad

Here's a question that I hope someone will be able to answer...

I keep getting calls from some idiot scam company in India (oh no, they are in Luton, they assure me, but I didn't think Luton could show as an international call when received...), anyway, having tried messing around with them a couple of times, and they STILL call, I had another idea:

I tell them I am about to go into the garden, and ask them to call me back on my mobile. BUT, I give them an 0906 number or something instead. Would they be able to dial that sort of number from India, i.e. +44 906 xxxxxx ? Oh but hang on, anyone in Luton would know thats not a mobile number, wouldn't they?? :rotfl:

Well, if the company had any sense, they'd bar premium numbers from being dialled/entered into the database, that's not hard to do.

Also, I think with a lot of overseas call centres, they don't actually use the local phone system, they use various VOIP solutions to cut costs.
