They avoid the taxes by classifying passengers as freight, which is not liable for airline tax, probably?
    Do you genuinely think that?

I hope Martin is going to talk about what happens when things go wrong aka Ryanair ducking out of their responsibilities to look after their passengers.

    Hi folks

All the above info is good - my aim is to make a balance programme that says

    A. You can fly supercheap - IF You jump through the hurdles
    B. Look at how to jump through the hurdles
    C. Look at what happens if it goes wrong.

Of course i dont have the final call the producers do - but I hope it will be somewhere along those lines.

As for phatbear - why not email :)

Martin, as much as I'd love to help out with your progamme I don't think I could handle all the hastle from alvin klein or abercrombie and stitch offering me modeling work after my apperance!

On a serious note I talk to thousands of people each year who use budget airlines and the vast majority of people are happy with the service, of course by the time I've finished with them they often aren't quite so happy but that's not the airlines fault

Think the cheapest I've got a flight all in is this year actually...Flying from Limoges to Southampton for £91 for two of us during July, and I've got a return for £65 to Finland and back. I was quite pleased with those, usually it can be double that, so I've saved a fair amount of cash..even if it's not £1 it's still good.
    ** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **
    ** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
    **SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

Oh come on Martin, we're not on the TV now, you really don't have to jump through any hurdles to get these good deals, you just need to be a little Lo-cost savvy, understand how they operate and be prepared to be a little flexible to find the ultra cheap deals.

I've travelled far and wide for very little with the likes of Ryanair, but that's because I'm prepared to spend a little time reading-up and don't have an 'I can't be bothered' attitude as many seem to have when it comes to helping themselves get a much better deal.

One thing I don't doubt though is that flying Lo-cost could lead to potential problems which might not occur with a Full service airline, but there are ways to mitigate those with prior planning in some cases.

I look forward to watching the show, any idea when we can expect to see it aired?

We flew to paris for 1p total cost of 4p for 2 return flights. No extras to pay, as we used a visa debit card, we took small hand luggage which fit more than enough of our stuff in for our 3 day trip. Flight was great and the staf super friendly and helpful, i cant really complain about ryan air.

But then we got stung with the bus ticket from paris beauvais to the centre of paris. Which was 15 euros each, each way. But we knew about that before hand and it was balanced out with the almost free flights.

Lucky for us though we flew on a weekend that covers the 1st sunday of the month so we got free entry to the louve, theres loads of other free places and museums to. So if you do your research in advance you can do it super cheap.

As we knew we'd saved so much on flights and entry fee's we splashed out on a top notch hotel, which to be honest was a waste of money as we were never in it. So next time we go we'll slum it in a cheap 20 euro per night hostel instead of a £150 per night hotel.

Food wise we stuck to set menus for 10 euros each (even down the champs elysees) which varied between 2 and 3 courses. We grabbed lunch from local supermarkets as we were passing.

In paris you also get reduced entry fees if your under a certain age - cant remember the exact age but DF at the time was young enough - just had to show his passport to prove he was entitled to the reduction.

Buying metro tickets in bundles of 10 works out cheaper than buying singles.

I love paris, ive been twice now and i cant wait to go again.

Basically the more effort you put into research the less it ends up costing you, if you cant be bothered to do the researech you just pay whatever - regardless.

:cool:I can't believe people are so unquestioning of cheap flights. You are talking about flying at 35,000 ft to foreign places over seas and mountains on multi million pound aircraft. These cost thousands to maintain with expert engineers to maintain them and skilled pilots to fly them. The majority of your fares goes to the government in the way of further taxes. It's not a bus service or train, you can't just pullover when things go wrong. A train goes along on rails, not much technology there yet it costs substantially more to travel on the train. This is crazy!!
I'd rather spend my hard earned money on my annual holiday with decent airlines like BA and the like. You know you'll get there, be waited on, with all the luggage you want to take, with your family sitting together, actually nice food and while your away there's a local number and person you can speak to if things go wrong while your away. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR PEOPLE. Flying should not be looked at as a bus service it is more elite but has been cheapened by easyjet and Ryanair. You rarely get really cheap flights and if you do you get absolutely none of the above. In lot's of cases especially on special events like world cup etc decent airlines actually cost less than cheap airlines. You have to add on all the extras not just the initial price they offer.
