3-in-1 media card reader

Options
I have a Dell Inspiron Mini 10v, which has a 3-in-1 media card reader, that, as the manual explains, provides a fast way to view and share digital photos, videos and music stored on SD memory cards, SDHC cards, MMC, Memory Stick and Memory Stick PRO.
Unfortunately the manual fails to explain how this can be done.
I have 2 mobile phones with about 3 gigabytes of music on them, a Sony Ericsson W595 and a Nokia 6300, with different types of cards. My big question is: how can I transfer my music on my laptop, if possible, and do I need some card adapter?

Go to "Computer" or "My Computer" in their you should see a few "removable disks"

Now you need to take the memory card (SD card etc) out of the phone/camera and insert it into the card reader (only fits one way, don't force it it may even insert upside down) then in "Computer" or "My Computer" you should see one of the disks will have data in it

Now your probably see a folder called "DCIM", open that and inside you may find more folders ie "100_0711" open one of them
inside you "should" find your pictures :D

Now just copy them to your hard drive,
    ie
click on "my computer" again and go to My Pictures and then drag the files from the 100_0711 folder to the My pictures folder

    hope that helps

The card slot on my Dell is about an inch wide, whereas the memory card is much smaller. Will I need an adaptor?

Sounds like you have a SD/MMC/RS-MMC reader, but your cards are probably Micro SD,

your need to confirm that, but if i am right you can get a Micro SD to SD Card Adaptor

The card is a Memory Stick Micro (M2).

I believe the M2 is a Micro SD, (if so see link above)

    to check
If you count the pins, if it has 8 then its a Micro if it has 11 then its a Mini SD
the Micro is about 10mm while the Mini is 20mm

If it's a "Memory Stick" then it's certainly NOT a SD card. "Memory Stick" is a registered trade mark of Sony.

It looks like it is this one

If it is the Sony chip then it will have 9pins (+ 2 reserved)
if so then you reader isn't much good but a M2 USB reader would be pretty cheap
