Getting stickers off a bike
Options
Ok, apologies if this is in the wrong section!! Mods, feel free to shift me somewhere more appropriate if necessary!
I've been given a really cracking bike that would be perfect for our daughter; I'm planning on doing it up and giving it to her for her 13th birthday from the cats! However, it's got loads of stickers on it (part of the bike's design, not added by the previous owner) that I want to get off. Does anyone have any top tips for doing this please? Again, apolgies if this is in the wrong place, I saw 'cycling' in the forum title so thought I'd stick it in here.

Generally, if they come off it'll take of a chunk of paint too. I've just done up an old Orange P7 to sell and the previous owner had put stickers on. Those came off with a very light heat gun but the other, manufacturer added ones needed more heat and a new paint job after. I had it powder coated for £40 at a local firm.0

Sorry, I wouldn't try the nail varnish remover, it will likely damage the paint.Herman - MP for all!0

WD40 is brilliant for removing sticky residue
from their website:
WD-40 gets under dirt, marks and grease making it easy to wipe away. It also dissolves adhesives, allowing easy removal of labels, tape, and stickers0 -
Definately try a hait dryer first. Should soften the glue enough to remove0

Hairdryer worked a treat! Thanks to all! There's a little bit of residue left, so gonna try WD40 on that. I love this website, there's always someone who knows just what you need to know!0

WD40 and a microfibre cloth or the edge of your finger nail0

Could these 'stickers' actually be transfers which have been lacquered over?
If so, almost impossible to get off without damaging the finish.0
