I have recently used two old yogurt pots and planted 3 seeds in each with compost and put them on the window to germinate.
When they start sprouting i will plant then in a large pot with canes and put them outside.
Can anyone please tell me if I am doing the right thing I am absolutely a novice on all this. I also have a runner beans plant going which seems to be doing well at the moment.

Yes, start off in small pots and as they start to grow then plant on in bigger containers.
Make sure you don't plant out the runner beans until close to mid May.0 -
When your tomato seedlings develop their first true tomato leaves transplant them into individual 3 inch pots, handling them very carefully by the leaves and NOT the stem (which is easily damaged) and plant them up to their leaf level in compost. This will allow further roots to develop higher up the stem and give you a stronger plant. Keep them indoors in good light levels until early early June when you can plant out without fear of overnight frost.
Runner beans too hate cold night temperatures, so if necessary, find a bigger pot for it indoors and don't plant out until early June.0 -
I have a pot of moneymaker toms and am a novice too!
I sowed last Thursday and can`t wait to see signs of life

Depends on the heat and light. Heat pulls them and makes them leggy light is a major factor to strengthen the stems. The solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.0 -
If you used those large yoghurt pots, they can stay in them till you (and them... and the weather) are ready to transplant them into the (hopefully very) large pots you have for them.
It's always said not to handle tiny seedlings by the stem and I always have done, as long as you aren't ham fisted and don't squeeze the stem ,you should be alright. I'm not saying you should do it this way, especially new growers probably, but if you do touch the stem, it's not the end of the world.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
I used the large yoghurt pot type pot!
This morning when i looked there was no sign of anything, tonight i have a very small sign of life i think!
I have what looks like a small green ball of leaf on a very thin stem - we are talking microscope job to see LOL!
