  • Call me paranoid, but I just put a mobile number - so my bag can find me on holiday if it's delayed on the way out which has happened a couple of times, & an email address in case the mobile doesn't work.[/QUOTE]

Moorhen is right. NEVER put your home address on the outside of luggage. Put a label with your home address on the inside of the luggage.

We always put a business card in our luggage - that way the home address is not left vulnerable.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

Yikes! I'd NEVER display my postcode alongside either my house number or name at an airport. It's too easy to get your full address from that (http://postcode.royalmail.com/portal/rm/addressfinder). Google Streetview will then show a potential thief if your house looks worth robbing!

But if you're house isn't empty while you're away the potential burglars will get caught in the act. :)

It's sensible to have two luggage tags - for your outward journey use one with your hotel details and for return use your own details.

Good idea that, I've had another set send to my parents address, name only for going away and details for coming home.
    Cheers!

I'd be more worried about being burgled when the OH is alone in the house than when it is empty.

I got my tags too - very nice, I went for the Email & mobile phone option, I always have my home address with my luggage, but never immediately visible.
Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.
