At present I rent a 3 bed home fully paid for by LHA. However my daughter wants to move out to live with her bf so I would only be entitled to the rent to cover a 3 bedroom property.
It has been mentioned to me that as I receive DLA, at the highest rate for personal care, that I might be able to still claim for my 3 bed property as I need someone to stay overnight with me on a regular basis to provide care. Is this correct?

No not from what i understand, if your health needs you to have extra rooms they need to be adapted in some way for you still to qualify for the larger property, but i would also think how long you have lived there if you have been there some time not sure they will just 'kick you out' of your home.:oAutism isn't the end of the world just a journey to another one:)
:eek:Why do people answer your questions just to be rude and unhelpful, don't like my question please don't answer:eek:0 -
Sorry a bit confused.
How many of you live in the property at the moment?
If it is just you and your daughter, you would only be entitled to the 2 bed rate.
If you have another child you would be entitled to the 3 bed rate depending on ages and sexes of your children.
The LHA rate doesn't take into account the DLA unless you receive the Severe Disablement premium and only then, if you rent in shared accommodation do you get the 1 bed rate.
There is no allowance for extra rooms due to any type of income at the present time so you would lose a bedroom and have to find other smaller accommodation.
You could apply for a Discretionary Housing Payment to help in the short termI currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.

Or cover the shortfall out of your other income.0
