I know its all down to the finer details, but Im just looking for a rough estimate at the minute.
I currently have a single car wood panel garage with corugated roof, that is in an awful state. The only plus point is that it all sits on a concrete slab. I am hoping to replace this with a block garage with cement render finish. Ideally the new garage will be around 5m wide and 7.5m long, to facilitate a car with room to manoevure round it. With this size in mind, the concrete slab will need extending from the 4m x 5m it is at the min!
Hope someone can help so I am not as shocked when I eventually get proper quotes.
Thanks

I'd say around £10/£15K depending on spec. This site is useful http://www.whatprice.co.uk/building/price.html0

Thanks bigal94!
The price seems quite high tho? Looking on the link other prices seem to range between £6-10k?! What part of the build is the most expensive and is there any way to reduce the costs? Thanks again!DFW'ers photography comp member no. 60 -
I'm going back about 10 years ago now but we had one built. It is 36 ft by 13ft. We got an all in price from a building firm of £10K + VAT.
However we then chose to source our own tradesmen. We got our own builder for the brickwork and then a joiner for the roof etc. We also bought our own materials. Total cost £4K.0 -
Wow that is some saving!!between £4-10k is more what I was expecting, and I know a few people who have done work for m ebefore, so i will try haggling with them about costings.
Did the firm give you a breakdown of costings to let you see how much you saved buying your own materials, because I thought people in the trade would be able to source their own materials at a cheaper rate than 'joe public' can get?DFW'ers photography comp member no. 60 -
I done my mates plans & he built the garage himself ... all in £2200 about 4-5 yrs ago and that was from scratch including the raft. Plenty of people out there hungry for the work at the minute0

Milko, I take it you are an experienced draughtsman?
Im just wondering how much detail is needed in the plans for the Planning office to pass the work. I am no architect, or skilled technical drawer, but would be able to put my proposed plans onto a computer drawing if that would suffice? Or would you suggest going to a professional?DFW'ers photography comp member no. 60 -
Try this web site http://www.carryduffdesigns.co.uk/enter.html hope it helps

Don_ky01 have u used them before? Their plans are all very standard, and don't cover the layout I had in mind?
The site was a good source of info though, thanks!DFW'ers photography comp member no. 60 -

No they just gave me a letter with the figure on it. The builder we used told us what we needed and the best places to buy. I'm trying for the life of me to remember the name of it.
I would expect your job to be very cheap given the fact you are using block0 -

17yrs chum but yes you don't need masses of info to put on the drawing, I'm sure i could dig out the relevant info for you to drop on your plans once drafted ... if needed.
Have ago yourself and if need be they'll return them with whatever changes / info requests they still need0
