Walking other peoples dogs

May I suggest that a lot more arrangements might be made where people could walk old folks dogs for them. Frequently elderly people are longing to have another dog when their old one dies, but will not because they cant exercise them properly. On the other hand , are people with only one dog who live near and could easily exercise a second dog at the same time, and also people who dont have a dog at all because of work , family or leisure commitments, who would love a dog purely for walking. If these people could get together , we could help more dogs out of rescues, more older people to be dogged up again lol, and give dogless people the pleasure of walking alongside four legs.

Thats all very well, but what do you expect us to do?

Great idea but as my dog has a dislike of other dogs (we're working on it) it's hard enough walking her as it is!0

You'd need some sort of forum or online meeting doodad to bring the people who have dogs together with the people who want, but can't have, dogs.
Although I'm pretty sure that most people who are interested in walking someone else's dogs probably already advertise their services as a dog walker. There's four ads up in my local co-op about dog walking at the moment, two offering to do it for free, and I only live in a small village.
It's a nice idea. I don't know how many people would do it, or want it done.:coffee:Coffee +3 Dexterity +3 Willpower -1 Ability to Sleep

Another vote for the Cinammon Trust here as well. I volunteered for them when my own dog died and it was too soon for me to get another one. If any one wants to give a helping hand, you can give as little or as much time as you like. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Lol - No Tabskitten, not exactly ! Cinnamon trust seems exellent, but was just thinking along more informal lines ie - just keeping an ear to the ground and stepping up or suggesting the idea to other suitable 'candidates' if you happen to hear of a situation which could be solved in the way I described .Where I live , all the dog owners seem to know whos got a dog, whether its walked etc , and just generally chatting to other people in your everyday life you come across folk who say they would enjoy walking a dog. Not suggesting this idea is for everyone, its not, Im just floating an idea which some people may not have considered. Theres usually someone who knows someone who knows someone!0 -

This is avery good idea, my wife and I have been thinking of trying to do something in this area. Further down this thread someone posted a link to the cinnamon trust which I had not heard of, they sound ideal and I have emailed them asking how I can help.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0
