Zenith Porch quote... urgent- he's coming back!!!

after having my ear bent off for the last hour+ the salesman (after a "call with divisional") got the quote down from£11k to £4.8K and we have to have the board outside for 8 weeks (whatever- not bothered)

but this is the first quote we have had for a porch, standard... door, window.. 90cm x 1800cm?

the product did look like a quality one, but TBH I go for a balance between quality and price IYKWIM. its not a high crime area and we have many other ways someone could get in if they were determined!!

is this a good price? has anyone else had a porch done recently? anyone know what a builder price would be?

i refused the pressure pitch so he is coming back tomorrow to grind me down a bit more which gives me time for a bit of research!

Don`t do it, even if the price turns out to be reasonable. You will be plagued with phone calls, "special offers" and knocks on the door for evermore. They just will not accept that even a fully double glazed house has no space to put some more of their wares.
Really, use a local independent builder. Maybe a neighbor will be able to offer a recommendation?

hmmm.. yes, i am pretty sure its a con somewhere down the line, the price isnt too bad i dont think, but that is not the cash price its for their super expensive credit option (works out at £11k+ if you dont pay it off early) and I KNOW the showhome thing is total nonsense and we were laughing when he was on the phone to "regional" or whoever it was.. we said it was like "deal or no deal"!!

think i'll try and tell him no... wish me luck!

ormus, do you know a good supplier of porches at that price i can have a look at? I have a tame builder who could do the work for me..

  • I work for a small double glazing firm and have heard many horror stories about zenith over the years. that isn't to say that they cannot change but just do you homework before signing up. In terms of your porch it does sound quite expensive but you didn't mention a few things that will make a difference to how it would be priced.

All you mentioned was 1 window and 1 door. This implies you are filling in a space already partly enclosed?? If not, what is happening about the roof, will you be having dwarf walls? does it require a base?

All of these things change the price dramatically, but if it is only 1 window and 1 door then that price is horrendous.

Just above north london a single door (half panel, Half glass) would cost roughly £700+VAT and a window about £300-£350+VAT.

One thing that mat help is trust a trader, this allows customers to leave feedback, but there is not really much in the way of safeguards to make the feedback completely authentic.

    Hope this helps

  • You will pay up to £2.5 k in the North West for the above spec.

    Please don't be ripped off!

    Which area are you in?

    Cheers
