Strange plumbing occurance.....Anyone know whats causing it

Hi Everyone....

We have a new bathroom about 7 months old. Anyway everything was fine until last week when the hot tap to the sink started loosing pressure. Cold tap is fine and hot and cold to bath fine. But the hot tap to the sink now seems to fluturate between a very light run of water and well a drip.

Its out of the blue and I dont think anything else has changed it, all other taps are just hunky dory. The tap still turns same amount just nothing comes out.....If anyone knows why or how to change it would be very much appreciated as it's making me want to scream!

This has now been happening to me for some time, to the bathroom in the loft. Haven't found a solution as of yet - been looking for some time. Using a Combi boiler, apparently we may need another one to keep the pressure up for the water in the loft.

Would be very grateful to someone with a solution.
  • I suspect that there may be some foriegn matter that has moved up the pipework to the tap, this may be from cuttings in floor etc, do you have a in line valve that allows you to turn off water to this tap or to all hot taps in bathroom?

Sorry don't understand. How could cuttings in the floor get into the pipework?

There is a switch to turn off the water for this tap.

Sounds like a problem with the tap itself, or the filter in the HW inlet of the tap. Another possibility is a kinked flexible braided hose, if that's what's been used. Don't imagine worse untill you've checked out those ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Take the tap head off and check/replace the tap washer, or deramic disc, depending what your tap has.

I once had a tap with this problem. It turned out to be a piece of brass swarf from the manufacture of the tap that had jammed inside. So it can happen. It would be a good idea, as already suggested, to check the inside of the tap for the presence of foreign bodies.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
