dfs damaged sofa return policy

just had a dfs leather sofa delivered today (after a 4 month wait), my wife was in and took delivery. i came home from work and gave the sofa a thorough inspection and noticed a large cut one way and a smaller cut across the longer one. looks like it was done by the stanley knife they used while removing the packaging.
what i would like to know is what are my options in regard to a replacement, as i understand dfs can be difficult when it comes to a replacement.
if they offer a replacement but say it will take a further 4 months do we have the right to choose a different style sofa?
thanks in advance for any help.

You can ask for a refund,(under SoGA), informing them it was damaged on delivery, (you may have to prove this), and that you are" rejecting the goods".
Under SoGA this will be damaged,(faulty), goods, and as such you will have informed them within the "reasonable" time scale.
See SoGA Part 5A Section 48A.

Hi. Dfs delivered a leather sofa to me today. After the deliverery guys had installed it, I wanted to test the recliner. So I sat o. It and gave it a go but the recliner won't work no matter how hard I pushed myself backwards. The delivery guys also tried but to no avail. So I asked them to take it back as I am rejecting it cos it's not working. I want to know where do I stand for a refund. Had paid for it already using debit card. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.0

Hi
Was just wondering if anyone knows if DFS will accept the return of a sofa if it is too big?
The sofa was delivered this morning...???????0 -
Doubt it, it's not as if it is defective.0

It would depend on the store, and If you wanted to purchase a replacement,
There might be a restocking charge(the sofa would be put on a stand at the rear of the store to be sold at a reduced price)
Ask instore you might be lucky.0 -
It also depends on whether or not it is the size you expected it to be. Are the measurements the same as the display model, or details instore?0
