Chosing a solicitor/removals company

Hi

Porbably daft question of the day but.......:o

We are FTB and have offered on a house 250ish miles away (which we hope to be accepted) as we are relocating.

Is it better to have a local solicitor near us with the sale or a solicitor near the house?? I suppose either way paperwork will have to come by snail mail but I might aswell ask.

Any decent not too pricey removals to look out for?? Had a quote from Pickfords for a 4 bed house from Hampshire to Yorkshire coming in at around £1300.......

Thanks for taking the time to look :D

If you're staying put until your move, I'd go with a solicitor near where you live. Helps no end with things like dropping off paperwork, producing passports etc and, as a bonus, if they are slow you can chase them up in person.

Here's a link to a trade organisation covering removers - there is a search function for finding local ones:
