Jet2 refunds

Nice one Jet2. Cancel all your flights, fair enough all planes grounded. Expect people to call your rip -off premium rate number for a refund and then keep them on-hold for ages and ages, not good enough. At least good old BA give you a freephone number.

I think you can forgive them for the long hold times as well, after all there will be an unprecedented number of people phoning in for information/cancellations etc.

Take a look at http://saynoto0870.com - it lists the following numbers for Jet2

    020 3031 8101 (making/changing bookings)
    020 3031 8102 (all other enquiries)
    0113 238 7444 (main switchboard)

The second number is listed as an alternative for the premium rate number, so might be a good starting point.

Alternatively, just do everything in writing, might be a bit slower but it'll cost less and you have a record of everything.

Thanks for the numbers guys. Jet2's website says the procedure for a refund is via the phone. There is an email address but this is for use for if you rebook your flight and then need a refund for the original flight. Bit odd. They do post a number for use from outside the UK which has dire warnings about using it from the UK but I will give it a spin as well.

I only use Jet2 as it is cheap. BA do not fly from my local airport and KLM are about 4, sometimes 5, times as much as J2. Since it is my company's money we are encouraged to eke out the travel budget as much as possible.

If you have ever flown with J2 you would see the use of 0871 numbers as just another money-grabbing scheme. Not as bad as Ryanair though. Still, they are normally on time and are cheap so will continue to use them

0871 numbers are not premimum rate numbers.
As you've discovered, budget airlines customer service is not the same as non-budget airline. You booked a cheap ticket with a budget airline, so you can't expect a freephone number as you get with a non-budget airline such as BA.

Years ago I had a similar problem with easyjet, I was backpacking at the time and on the final leg of my trip in the USA - I think I just let the £30 or so quid go in the end as it would have cost me more time and money to sort out than I could afford at the time.

As far as I'm aware Jet2 are one of the few that are refusing to pay for accomodation and food albeit against EU regulations. This however may change when they find out what the consequences of this action is. My son was stranded for an extra 5 days in Sharm el Sheikh with no hope of getting a hold of anyoneone from Jet2 and I had to do it all from this end. Cost £500 for replacement flights for which I've already subitted a refund claim. I will be sending a further recorded delivery letter claiming for hotel/food and I believe you are also entitled to claim for 2 fonecalls home and the cost of getting you to you're original intended destination. That means fuel costs from Leeds to Newcastle in my case.

I have receipts for my extra hotel stay but not for the food I ate. Will they need receipts or refund on a Per Diem basis?
