hi, been divorced 5 yrs, ex has always paid £450 per month child maintainence -arranged between ourselves,no court order etc.
ex's new partner of 18 months not happy with this so now ex is saying may go to CSA as it will cost less.so,could ex do this?
i thought it would be the person with the children who would claim through CSA for payment from the absent parent?
or is it more tricky than that?
after 5 years stability am now worrying what amount will go into my account every month.
thanks.

The figure always banded around this forum is that one child = 15% of the fathers income usually. This changes if he has other children.
Maybe someone with more knowledge than me can confirm this ??0 -
thanks, sorry but i meant could he contact CSA or would i have to?0

Your ex can approach the CSA himself if you can't renegotiate between yourselves - http://www.csa.gov.uk/en/setup/who-can-use-csa.aspThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Either of you can contact the CSA. In answer to Firewallbob, the amounts are 15% for one child, 20% for two children and 25% for three or more children. Based on net income, the above amounts do not take into consideration overnight stays or havng other children in the same household as the non-resident parent. The amounts are for CSA2 (cases after March 2003).0
