dent in bumper

I have managed to get a dent in one of my rear car bumpers (entirely my fault, no other cars involved). I have arranged for it to be fixed, but this won't be untill Thursday. Someone has told me that if I drive my car around with the dent, I could get pulled over by the police and get points on my licence - is this true?

Erm, don't think so. Unless its also broken lights on the back?

I think only if there were sharp bits that could be dangerous to anybody catching themselves on it.

Only if the dent makes your car look unroadworthy. If it is a minor dent I doubt you will have any problems.

Looking unroadworthy is not an offence! It has to be actually unroadworthy. Otherwise I'd prob have lost my license many times over with one of the cars I drive.... (which incidentally, just passed its MOT )

As long as theres no bits hanging off, broken lights or sharp edges you should be a-ok.

Thanks everybody, no there are no broken lights. I think that the person who told me that I could be pulled over by the police is a pessimist
