I got called for Jury Service a couple of years ago, told work bout it then got a phone call at work 10 days before was due to start the jury service saying that they had enough people and they were excusing me from duty - so I didnt have to do jury service.

  • After my Dad had done jury service twice, he was called up again a few years ago. Feeling he'd done his fair share and fed up with being asked again, he rang up and told them he was doubly incontinent (he isn't!) and they permanently excused him. Worked a treat!
    ...nothing to see here...

I have been excused 3 times, for various reasons. Last time it was the school holidays and I had nobody to look after the kids. They insisted I still had to go so I told them I would have to bring the kids with me. They changed their tune very quickly :p

Get your doctor to write a letter supporting your application to be excused. They always call far more jurors than they actually need anyway.

What if you've got a holiday booked? Is that excusable? If so, book something very cheap very quickly!
