REALLY confused on how to get a tax rebate!

Hi guys
I was employed from January, 27th 2010 till February, 2nd 2010 (employer was a nob who used me for statistics) and I am owed £53.80 tax rebate. This is the only job I have had and do not expect to be employed again for a while since I live in the middle of nowhere.
How would I go about getting a rebate? I've printed off a P50 but I am not sure if I fill in the 'Your earnings since leaving the employer named in the declaration' part since I have had no earning. Also do I even need to fill this in now since the new tax years started?
I do not have a P60, should I ask for one?
I am not on JSA either
Also the ex employers tax office is in Sussex, where he was before he re located up here to Mid Wales, do I send the forms to my nearest office or to the office number on my P45?

Thanks
Kerry

You only get a P60 if you are working over the end of the tax year.

If you leave a company before then, you will get a P45. You should send this off to tax office (not sure which one though).

Were you employed anywhere else between April 6th 2009 and April 5th 2010?

Oh yes I was, I was helping out as a barmaid for a couple weeks but it was only £24 a week and wasn't taxed.
I was also on job seekers for a month before they wound me up telling me to come in on a Thursday and cancelling my claim cos I was meant to go in on a Monday

EDIT: I was on jobseekers BEFORE I got the latest job and ended up being owed a rebate

Unfortunately I have no idea about JSA and how it effects tax.

Do you have P45 from barmaid job too?

f you gave Jobcentre form P45 from job, and it showed a cumulative code number, Jobcentre makes refund, either when you sign off, or on 5th April (end of tax year) whichever is soonest. If you didn't give Jobcentre form P45, or were on an emergency tax code, normally you could contact tax office, and ask for cumulative code number to be sent. However, we are now so near the end of the tax year, it is too late for that, and you will have to wait until Jobcentre sends you form P60U. If no refund shown on it, send to tax office, together with part 1a from job P45, and ask for repayment to be made from there.
I guess Jobcentre counter staff aren't trained on these details, and any refunds due will be calculated by their computer centre when final payments made for year. Probably all their instructions are is to take your details to pass on. Your local benefits office is the Jobcentre. Tax office won't know anything yet until form P60U issued at end of tax year.

go to your local tax office, with your P45. You fill in a short form and they send it off for you. You get a refund in about 8 weeks.

You can search for your last employers tax office via the above link and send the tax office a letter asking for the 09/10 tax year to be reviewed. Include all P45's and P60's, whether tax was deducted or not, and details of your taxable benefits. HMRC do not assess individual jobs they assess your total taxable income in the whole tax year.
