Will CD+G disks play on a CD player

I know this is a really simple question but I can't find an answer anywhere so I thought the brains on here might know.
I want to buy a karaoke CD from Amazon (this sort of thing) but some of them say they can only be played on a karaoke machine and some don't, although the are all CD+G.
I want to use them in an ordinary CD player as backing tracks for a show my children's drama group are doing. The group doesn't have a karaoke machine and as the CD player is attached to a really good sound system and we don't need to see the lyrics anyway we wouldn't want to buy one.
I'd be very grateful if someone can tell me whether I will be wasting my money if I order this!
Thanks
JJ

have just checked the CD+G disk that came with my daughters kareoke machine and can confirm that it DID work.
Tried on two different machines (one is a £20 tesco job the other is a sony MP3 compatible)Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

Yes I've got a CD+G disc that plays on a regular CD player, it just ignores the graphics track."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

I can also confirm that CD+G discs will play on a standard CD player, sound only of course. If you'd like some fun after the show you may find that it plays with graphics in your DVD player. Quite a few do, even though they don't advertise themselves as such.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0

Not on all cd players.
with the correct s/w or free winamp add-on, or the newer versions of vlc will also display the graphics (words etc) on a pc.
Heard of mp3+cdg - if not google0
