Well Jennifer - I have been doing that for (however many years on here) but unfortunately people buy on price and not decent cover. Buy cheap and get a claim then wonder why the insurers won't pay - you REALLY do get what you pay for - Post Office & Fortis are THE best value for money I truly beleive and I've never been insured by them or do I have shares!!!

Good for you Fortis - I knew you'd do right.

It was your posts, FH that led me to choose Post Office insurance. I can relax now knowing that if things are not sorted or there is a recurrence my trip in just over 3 weeks is covered. Cheers!

How much is Fortis Travel Insurance? I booked Mondial Assistance but noticed I won't be covered (not flying out to the states till May 14th-26th) so I've cancelled with them. I'm going to head down to one of the insurance shops but I'd like to know how much Fortis will cost?

I think you'll find all insurance companies will take this stance.

You cannot insure against something happening that has already happened.

I *think" that Fortis underwrite Direct Line. We had a claim for theft a couple of years ago through direct line and I am almost sure the company that we dealt with was Fortis....they were excellent. Will try and check the docs.

Directline underwrite Directline policies, they are separate companies with no connection

Maybe I am confused, as our claim was a complicated one involving travel/house insurance. I have definitely dealt with Fortis though and they were great to deal with. Actually, now I think about it, it was the house insurance policy that paid out, so that policy was through Fortis.

Fortis is most available through the Post Office. Otherwise you'd have to go through a broker.

    Not covered for what?
If you mean the ash, then you won't be covered at all now - it's a known event.
