Carers allowance ?? renting holiday home

Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

I have a holiday home(small chalet on holiday park) which we use and thinking in the future would like to OFFER TO RENT OUT TO HELP PAY THE GROUND RENT.Although wont complain if we make a profit.
We dont expect to make a profit and if we break even i'd be chuffed. I get carers allowance for my child would this be affected. If so could i put the chalet in my childs name (over 18)high mob/high care& student

Its ok if you do not earn over £90 but if you are on other benefits like income support this may be affected ...so just be careful

It's actually £100 per week after expenses such as Tax, NI have been deducted.

It can be an indeterminate figure once all allowable deductions are made. However, £95 is the guideline figure.
    Gone ... or have I?

    Hello,

I'm in receipt of CA and I can keep wages up to £100 per week without any affect on the benefit. You can earn more than £100 if for example you pay someone else to care for your caree whilst you're working as even though you've been paid that amount they class it as an expense. NI, Tax and any other expenses are also deducted.

Even if you have only made just £1 over the £100 then you would lose CA for that week or if paid monthly for the full month if that £1 cannot be claimed as an expense. A small amount of people have been caught out on this thinking they average earning over the year, CA don't usually do this for normal earnings unless claiming for expenses.

Hello again, This puts it so much better than I can.

To receive Carer's Allowance, you must not earn more than £100 a week (2010-2011 rate). Some deductions can be made from your gross wage when deciding whether you earn less than the limit.
You are allowed to take the following off your wage:
    • Income Tax
    • National Insurance
    • Half your pension contributions
If you pay someone to care for a child, or the person you look after, you can make extra deductions from your net wage (your wage after the deductions listed above). Up to half of your net wage can be ignored if you make these payments. You are not allowed to take off payments to a close relative for the childcare or other care. A close relative is the parent, son, daughter, brother, sister or partner of either yourself or the disabled person you care for.
If your earnings vary from week to week an average of your earnings is taken. If you have a regular pattern of work, your earnings are averaged over one complete 'cycle'. If you do not have a regular pattern of work, your earnings will be averaged over five weeks, or whatever period will enable your weekly earnings to be assessed more accurately.

great advice thats given me food for thought because as i say i dont think i will make a profit but thought it could help pay for the ground rates the site charge. I cannot expect to put down ground rent on holiday home a expense. Also i would be looking at about 6/8 weeks rent over £300+ rent (earnings) so a loss of 6/8 weeks CA too much hassle and gets the nosey people involved. Thanks for your help
