Just had same problem with mine but it was covered by warranty.

We got an engineer out and he showed me a little trick - find the thermostat, mine was at the back, and you should see that a bit of it is curved inwards.

Get a piece of blu-tack and stick it to the curved piece and pull, it should pop out and lo and behold, heat again:D

I've struggled to describe it but that's the best I can do.

  • ....This is the bi-metal safety 3/4in thermostat that has kicked in due to overheat. For tecky buffs, the bimetal disc controls a little ceramic pin that opens or closes the contacts (therefore letting current pass or not). Each discs are heat sensitive and click inside pushing the pin that pushes the contacts open when the unit overheats (same system on a coffee machine but smaller stats). When temperature drops, disc clicks other way allowing current to pass again etc. If the thermostat has reacted it means the unit has overheated. If problem persist, have the unit checked. Don't use blu-tack repeatedly.

long shot here but i used to have same problems with mine, and it turned out to be a combination of the filter getting bunged up with fluff etc and a red plastic button on the back( not even like a button) !!! i just clean the filter thingy and press in the plastic jobber and hey presto ... heat !!!
p.s. plastic jobber and filter thingy are technical terms !!!!!!!!!!!

I had this problem with my tumble dryer and my husband checked the element with his meter (he is an electrical engineer) and that was the problem. We bought a new element offf the internet and it has been working fine ever since.
