Halifax - Bank Charges!

Hi all,
I have recently noticed several bank charges, listed as "charges as notified", appear on my account.
Now I have never had a charge before and have also not received any notice of these charges.
Having phoned the telephone banking to discuss it appears the charges were as follows
• £30 charge for going £7 over my arranged overdraft for 1 day
• £28 charge for going £148 over my arranged overdraft for 1 day (1 month after the first)
• 3 x £30s charge for attempted debits to my account during the second period above of 1 day
Total = £148 (for 2 instances of being over drawn for 1 day each)
Now the guy on the phone said he could only reverse out one charge but after considerable badgering he said he would do 2. If I wanted to take it further I had to go to the branch. I did this and they said they could only do 1.
What I am posting for is whether anyone has had something similar and thinks it is worth writing a letter of complaint to head office (or relevant department)?
The situation is my bank account is normally very well managed and the first £7 instance was due to paying in partners wages a day later than usual and the second instance we were on holiday and the internet banking would not work at any internet cafe we tried. We have got over £7k in savings with the Halifax and have had at least his amount for the duration when these charges were made.
On the basis of the above and also the fact that no letters/emails advising me of the charges were received do you think I have a good case to have them removed? The branch and telephone banking are both adamant they can not do anything further.
Appreciate your time
Duncan

You might lose £20 a year in interest, but this is a small price to pay to avoid the hassle of initiating court action, risking your account being closed down, and incurring the same £148 default charges the next time it happens.0
