There's usually a 'delayed departure' section in an insurance policy, but what exactly is in it will depend on your policy. It wouldn't usually cover refunding transport costs of getting to and from the airport, if you went home and came back another day.

The reason we weren't able to make our 'return' flight epm is because we weren't able to go on the hol in the first instance because of our cancelled outbound flight, not because of transportation in getting to the airport etc.
