Hanging wall units

I'd like to hang some wall units. The problem is that one of the walls consists of plasterboard, then about 50mm of foam insulation then batons before hitting brick. What's the best way of going about yt?

You have nearly 70mm to go through before you hit brick - good luck!

Seriously, I hope someone can advise you on this. Do you have neighbours who have done the same thing in their house?

Are you sure the insulation is not between the stud work? This is the usual method of building. How do you know what the construction is? If it is a kitchen, then the builder should have put appropriate cross pieces at the right height to enable wall units to be hung.

The wall in question was part of a utlity rom, which the buiding inspector said needed loads of insulation, which is behind the plasterboard. There are no cross pieces as we originaly didn't intend putting up units, so didn't ask the builder to do so.

Would these support the weight of the cupboards in the plasterboard?

yes. one per corner will do it.
to be 100% sure, try the unit sitting on a small batten, or on concealed L brackets too.
