i posted on here a while back about wedding photographers and had a great response.
so now to our next task, finding a good band to play at our wedding.

i don't want something too cheesy/cabaret type bands (but fear thats all there may be) ive never honestly seen a good wedding band yet, i prefer less popular music and point blank refuse to have someone play crap pop covers at my wedding.

i would have prefered a ceilidh, but she isn't up for that unfortunatly, maybe a band that could do part ceilidh would be good. but i would prefer to have a band that are good at doing one thing than being rubbish at 2 things if you know what i mean.

if anyone out there has a recomendation for a good band,or even an idea that i haven't thought of then i would be more than happy to hear from you.

this wedding stuffs hard work.

My sister in law had part ceilidh, part ordinary music part DJ music at their wedding, they were really good, play a lot at the Dalmahoy iirc.

They really made it a fab night, worth the money though they weren't cheap.

My friends husband is in a ceilidh band, not sure how far they'd travel or how much they charge, but he is from Alva and I could always ask her and PM you with the details.

my daughter hired John McRuvie the local radio morning breakfast show presenter. thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. He did a disco/cabaret act, very funny. as you say she didnt want a cheesy band either.

We had so much hassle finding a good band, went through the agencies and countless presentations before we found Pacific and they were worth their weight in gold, fantastic to deal with and brilliant on the night. Website is http://www.pacificweddingband.co.uk pm me if you need any more info.

they look quite good. i like the idea of it being all live instruments rather than backing tracks and sequencers. thanks very much for the suggestion.

thanks to everyone else aswell for taking the time to post thier suggestions. keep them coming though!

I can also speak highly of Pacific. We used them as our wedding band and they were really good - even with a stand in singer as theirs was on her honeymoon! They played loads of swing and jazz classics and removed a few key no-no songs from the more popular part of their set (no Shania Twain and they were true to their word). They did some ceilidh too so all in all a good mix. :T
  • Highly recommend 4amjazz, they played at our wedding last summer. My wife booked them and she has amazing taste!

They got all of our guests up dancing and played some great jazz classics from old to modern. You can listen to their tracks to get a sample: 4amjazz.com
