New Mot for Cat D

Options
Hey guys, my bro in law got me a cat d mazda 3 hatchback with minimal damage but has now been repaired. My question is - the current road tax and mot has NOT expiried. I went to my local DVLA centre and got a duplicate tax disc but forgot to ask them. Do i need to get the car MOT done again? As the MOT runs out in august can i leave it until then or must i get some sort of check done now to prove its roadworthyness?

Thanks
Hass

Hes fine but i think when a car has been written off its best to do a MOT. I had a 2 year old car cat d repaired and i did not mot it till it was 3 years old.

I would say technically you don't need it.

But what happens if you need to produce your documents? I suspect it will be easier just to get an new MOT which will also act as a double check that the car is roadworthy.

Have you searched the VOSA website for info?
  • When I done a cat c a while back a new MOT was one of the documents I had to provide at the VOSA inspection. Does a cat D need a vosa inspection?
