The reason behind under 25's not getting tax credits is because the government expects them to be

    i) in education
    ii) or an apprenticeship
iii) or in a low paid job
    iiii)and /or living at home

I think also it is assumed that if you are a fit and healthy person in your early 20's with no home commitments then there is nothing stopping you getting a second job to supplement your income.

I always had at least 2 jobs when I was that age (in fact nothing has changed...am in my mid 30's with a child and I still have a few jobs on the go) bought my first flat at 19 and worked my socks off to run that plus have a healthy social life:cool:
  • They assume wrong... If I worked your avergae 9-5 job then perhaps, but as stated before I work a good day's worth extra than that. Not too easy to work much more than that - certainly not enough to make finances any easier.

    Never mind eh...
