New student with existing debts

I am starting uni as a mature student in september, but already have a credit card with a balance of £1600 and a loan for around the same amount. Any advice on how to manage these when I become a student, or the best way to pay them off, maybe with a student overdraft if they allow me to have a second one for this purpose? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Can you not work full-time over the summer and pay as much as you possibly can off before you start in September?
Once you start fullt-time education - money is going to be tight, so make sure you have a comprehensive and realistic budget planned including all the money your are going to have coming in and going out. And stick to it.
Also, start to look early, in advance of term starting, for a part-time job. Competition will be high - but much higher once new students start as well. Apply for everything and anything in the first instance (obvaiously that doesn't impact negativly on you studies), and hope for the best.0 -
you might be better posting on the debt-free wannabe board...0
