email scam purporting to be DHL couriers - OU students beware!

I'm not normally taken in by scams, in fact I usually have a jolly good laugh at how gullible people can be. I knew this as a scam the minute I saw it, but unfortunately another student did not.
I got an email allegedly from DHL who happen to be the courier company for the OU course I do, and deliver my materials to me. The subject line of the email stated that they were unable to deliver my package, something about a misprinted delivery adderss. Now I am due a delivery of materials from the OU as many students will be around this time.
I've used DHL personally in the past. They don't email recipients - they, the same as Royal Mail do, push a card through and ask you to collect from their depot or arrange a re-devilery. I deleted the email without a further thought.
Another person I know who is an OU student, received the same email and thought the OU had given DHL her email address - why I don't know as the OU will not give out your email address to a courier, data protection act and al that. the only address DHL will have is the delivery address. Silly girl clicked on the link and it mucked up her PC. She was taken in so easily because like me she is due a delivery of OU materials, unlike me she is way ahead on her course and wanted to get stuck in to the next section. Don't let your over eagerness leave you open to scams. Now she will have to get her PC looked at. Thankfully she has the use of another to submit her assignments.
Be warned!
