Hi
My OH bought a 2002 Ford Focus 1.8 TDDI and was wondering when the next timing belt change is due. The belt was changed at 76,000 miles in 2007 and the car now has 115k on the clock.
I keep hearing different opinions on when these belts need changed. Ford say every 100k or 10 years and other say 5 years or 40,000.
Anyone else with the same model? If so when did you change yours?
Thanks

I would not leave a timing belt for 100k miles...no way..jose....
As an example,my old Golf has about 95k miles on it.
The original from new belt was changed at about 50k and i changed the last one at about 92k. These are before manufs recommendations. Having said that, i did it myself and didnt have to wad out the fat end of £350 to have it done.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Its not worth risking a good engine get it changed asap0

as an owner of said ford focus model, when i purchased mine, they said they were going to look at it and replace if necessary (Mileage 98K). Theres no documentation to show anything was changed (as the previous owners may have done it), mine is now at 125K and i'm going to get it looked at at the end of the month.
My car had a major service in October 09, so i thought they'd have done it/picked it up there if needed, but not risking it now.
Great engine. don't ruin it!0 -
I've been recommended every 100K for the TDDI engine.0
