Cant Find Counterpart Driving Licence - Due to pick up car tomorrow (Finance)
Options
Im due to pick up my new (2nd hand) car tomorrow from a garage.
They need my driving licence - both parts, for the finance company.
I cant find my counterpart, The garage said they will ring the finance company up tomorrow morning to see if i can still get the car without it.
What are my other options if they need it, Can i get another copy from my local DVLA or do i have to send off for it (think costs £20 ish)
Can they fax a copy of it to the dealer/finance company?
I will keep looking, but havent seen it in years since i first got my licence so no idea where it is!

I'd guess it's for ID purposes only so passport or similar should do0

I dont have a passport either!
They wanted a recent bill, bank statement, and both parts of driving licence!Make £10 a day Challenge June - £1700 -
2nd part of driving licence is for points.
Why the finance company would need that is a strange one.

Does sound strange that they want counterpart!
Anyway, if they insist then it should be the same as if you were trying to hire a car, You do require both parts but the hire company can phone DVLA to confirm, you pay the charge (around £10, I think)0 -
Some car finance specialists require that the person holds a valid licence, maybe they need to see the counterpart to ensure the person is not disqualified or banned.
It does say on the counterpart 'The photocard and paper counterpart should be kept together and both must be produced when required'.0 -
Ive been looking all day and still cant find it.
Ill ring the DVLA tomorrow, read somewhere they may be able to fax a copy, then ring the garage to ask them to ask the finance company if that will do, or if can do it without the counterpart at all!Make £10 a day Challenge June - £1700
