Would Royal Mail email me or is it a dodgy email?

I've received an email from Royal Mail with a delivery invoice attachment which I haven't opened as yet. The email reads:
We missed you, when trying to deliver.
Please view the invoice and contact us with any questions.
We will try to deliver again the following business day.
Royal Mail.
Would RM really email people of could it be some sort of virus that someone has sent out.
It's saying it's been sent from delivery@royalmail.com.

That's what I thought and can't work out how they could have got it as i'm sure i've not given it them for any reason although we've ordered and posted quite a few things recently.
I have no intention of opening it unless it's confirmed that they've sent it. I had a quick search to see if anyone else has had anything like this before but couldn't find anything. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00 -
Delete it, almost certainly an attempt to instal the Zeus bot or something like it.0

Try a google search for

There's loads of these flying around ignore them. Get a better spam filter. RM will leave a card if they try and deliver0

I'm not massively well up on computers, I didn't actually open the email it just opened in the view box below my inbox and I didn't touch the attachment, should my computer be alright or could it have picked up the virus? If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00

The email would probably have contained a PDF (document) file which is normally safe to open but there is a new vulnerability where viruses can hide inside these files.
As long as you didn't open it, you'll be OK.0 -
