Basic principals, from what I'd assume.... you'd have to check the specifics, like if a host charges you for it or charges for leaving their service early etc.
    • Backup all data you have *if you're already with someone*.... full backup
    • Logon control panel
    • Change the records for the new host servers (A, MX, NS, etc)
    • Wait for DNS replication to take place (24-72 hrs)
    • Logon to new host servers
    • Upload your website
Then your new site should be live.

I noticed you own the domain, in theory you should not get charged because the domain is registered to you which means your fully in charge of all the records etc

So as long as you have a data backup you can transfer it to a new server immediately. When you go to a host, you want to check if it's free or they charge it. Some do it free some charge an admin fee of £10-15 to logon and setup the connections for you

I just own the domain meaning no website has been set-up.

And I'm actually transferring the ownership to this person.

    Is the process same?

    Ta

I'm still researching webdomains myself as part of a business project so don't fully understand them

How do you mean transferring the domain, do you mean you will own the domain name (i.e 1234.co.uk) and the person you are transferring to will be hosting your website

Or you intend on giving them EVERYTHING, so that if someone queries 1234.co.uk it shows as being owned by that other person?

I think if you're selling or transferring the domain ownership to another person itself (i.e www.1234.co.uk) you have to submit a change through one of the ISP Registrars (it's ARIN for America, and I think Nominet for UK, not 100% on that one)

Unfortunately I don't understand it fully, if you can't find an answer on here from anyone else. Or by google searching, I'd recommend making a post on WHT (webhostingtalk.com) or ukwebhostchat.co.uk and asking there as it focusses on webhosting and will be able to give the correct answer.

The op wants to transfer the domain to another registrar, not host the website somewhere else.
You need to open an account with another registrar, eg 123reg and search for your domain on thier site. The result will show the domain is registered and allow the owner (you) to transfer the site to them. The domain renewal fees will then be paid to 123 reg.
Why specifically do you want to move your domain registrant?

I bought the domain for the Charity i was a trustee for. When i bought it a while ago, i purchased it under my name.

I am no longer the trustee so need to pass all details to the new trustees and no make sure they get charged for all future bills

    Thanks

if you contact 1 and 1 they "should" have all the relevant forms needed to transfer domain registrant/owner details, i used to work for ukfast.net and its a relatively simple process, or at least it should be. transferring the domain to another company will not change who owns the domain only.

have you tried to contact 1 and 1 to see if they will be able to make the changes you require?

Or go to http://www.123-reg.co.uk/domain-names/ and put in your domain name. It will tell you that it's taken. Just click on the word "taken" and you will see it.
