Is this a scam? Am I being paranoid?

Hi there,
Can anyone help with a question which borders on the subject of auctions, car boot and jumble sales/
In a bid to be debt free, I have started advertising my services as an English teacher. I have just received a couple of strange emails from someone who says his son is coming to England.
He hasn't answered any of my questions about dates/times/son's ability etc tc, but has repeatedly asked for my name and address for the Eurocheque he's going to send me.
Am I being paranoid? Or is there any potential for any fraud here? Can anyone advise against any possible scams?
Many thanks for your help.....

This sounds rather like the money laundering scam...do a Google on scams and large cheque payments. If it is a scam he will send a large cheque and ask you to pay it into your account and then 3 days later when it clears return the overpayment to him by Western Union.
The cheque then bounces a few days later and you lose the money and possibly your account as well as the Fraud office consider this an attempt to money launder.
I've not seen it used on language tuition before, there was a person on breaksfast TV last year who was a solicitor and was sent money in advance for house purchase fees, and got scammed this way..so maybe they just trawl the small ads?
I might be wrong of course but it is worth researching just in case.

Thanks so much for your replies...I can't believe you can get stung for simply paying a cheque into your account! That might explain why he kept ignoring my requests to be paid in cash, and asking for my address!
Thanks again for your help.Overpay!0
