UK Maternity Pay when abroad?

I think the answer to this is "no", but can't seem to find anything definitive...
I'm working abroad at the moment, but still making voluntary NI contributions to keep my position with UK NI whole. If I have a baby here (Australia) would I be entitled to receive any maternity pay (ie SMP)?

I think Class 3 (Voluntary) Contributions, even if paid in the UK, only count towards your Pension, not any Benefits.
However I'm not sure, so please someone correct me if I am wrong.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

You are correct SDW, Voluntary Class 3 NIC only goes towards UK State Pension. As the OP is living/working in Australia, she needs to claim any benefits available there.0
