What do you mean by a "multi-tasking cpu"?

Basically a CPU with more cores / threads

    Atom 330 has 2 cores 4 threads
Celeron has 1 core 2 threads (or 1/1)

The Celeron will be more intensively worked in applications that are more demanding on CPU priority. Whereas the Atom can reduce the workload on the CPU because it has more threads to share the workload between the programs and/or tasks.

So a user who has Windows Media Player with music playing whilst typing up a document when a background Antivirus scan is running would "in theory" see less of a performance issue than the Celeron CPU

Realistically speaking, I couldn't answer which would be better. Quite frankly I don't really care because as stated I hate netbooks, they're underpowered and overhyped.

Discussion aside however, we're swaying from the response to the original topic, which was for improving performance on the OP netbook :)

I have one of these laptops. There is something you can do to increase the speed.

In the BIOS, you can change one of the mode settings to ASHE. This overclocks the processor and it will run at 1.5 Ghz instead of 1.2 Ghz. it made a huge difference to mine.

Also, this laptop comes with 64 bit windows 7. A switch to windows 32 bit might help. A switch to windows xp and your problems will be over.

You will need to buy a license but you can buy one online for about 40 quid.

This cpu is actually not as slow as i expected. i got it to play 720p mkv HD movie files and also youtube HD.

Also, if you really want to solve the partitioning problem then running a full system recovery (F9 at switch on) will give you an option to reinstall on a single partition. If you do this though you must save all your files.
