As tanith has said there is a reset button, if your unsure how to do it google or go to youtube with your make and model of tomtom and you will see details on it.

Heres a link showing where the reset button is on the TomTom 720 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnkjLnwhkDc

This problem happens once in a while.

All I can say is good luck with getting it repaired by Tom Tom. I have never come across such disinterested staff for the UK & ROI. Some people on other forums have got better help in contacting Tom Tom in the Netherlands where most of the staff speak perfect English.

Also, the Start, One and One XL don't have a reset button - just hold down the power button till it powers on, off then on again
