You can't beat a pressure washer, it will do both jobs together. It's a little messy, but is better with a patio extension on it.

Beg or borrow one if you don't have one already.

We have a karcher one which has been very reliable, but they are expensive. We waited until there was a good offer on them (I think they were changing the models and the older style ones were being sold off a few years ago). There are places that hire them tho if you don't want to buy outright.

Just be careful hiring one - the people at our hire shop wouldn't let me hire one because they are too hard to start! It was one of the petrol ones with a pull start (a bit like a lawn mower).

Can you borrow one from anyone?

hire a presure washer for a day, you can buy them from b&q for same price but those ones are useless.
then brush kiln dried sand over it so that it re-fills the joints. do this when surface is 100% dry after a day or 2.
then brush over a sealer (not glossy) so that dirt and moss doesn't grow/stick as easily in future.

    then relax for 5 years.

the really cheap ones are a bit naff, but spend 100 quidish and they do the job nicely.
ive owned this bosch model for many yrs now. 99 quid. does a great job.
    the whole family use it.

We have a karcher costing about £90 .

    I don't bother with a sealer
