Just wondering how long did it take your surveyor to have a basic valuation done? we applied for our mortgage more than two weeks ago and paid the valuer (e-surv) more than a week ago. It's been a week and we have heard nothing, no date arranged, nothing. Even though when the surveyor took the payment, he promised to call us back that same afternoon but we haven't heard his voice since then... it is always the quickest when they take payment from you...

In everyone's experience, how long does it take before you hear from the valuer after payment?

E.Surv were taking too long so we used a different company; direct valuations did ours instead. They are approved by most of the lenders. We spoke to Direct valuations who confirmed that they were usable by our bank and also went on to re-arrange the survey with them.

I would personally ring E.Surv and say unless they can get it done PRONTO then you are going to look to change who does the valuation and will expect a refund.

We signed the mortgage paperwork on Wednesday afternoon and by Friday Direct had done the valuation and homebuy survey It will be on the server by monday morning I expect. Dont take no for an answer of E.Surv!

We used ESurv and it took about two weeks. We found the seller held ours up because they had to agree a date/time for access and she was always busy.

ESurv took ages to do ours. Its a repo so a quick exchange was expected (21 days) however after 2 weeks they had not even contacted the EA to get access to the property. They left it right up to the day before the deadline for exchange to do the valuation and survey so an extension had to be negotiated, then didn't bother to send out the survey results! Not very impressed with them!

    thanks for all your replies...

that's not good with e-surv, think will drop our mortgage manager another email tomorrow and ask him when the valuation is likely to be carried out as we can't wait forever. we are supposed to exchange this coming Fri. Otherwise I will ask him if we can get someone else to get the valuation done and ask for a refund!

my valuation was included with the mortgage (no fee payable by me) - i let the bank know i had the offer accepted at 5pm on Thursday before Easter (so Friday and the following Monday were bank holidays), they arranged the valuation to be done the following Thursday - so only 2 working days 'wasted'.

I got the mortgage offer & valuation paperwork in post the following Wednesday.
