Lovefilm screwed up my Saturday night...again

Just invested my Saturday night into watching one of their DVDs and as is all too common these days it freezes up at all the best bits and misses out chunks of the film.
  • Wasted Saturday evening - best few hours of the week
  • Ruined the film because I've seen bits of it so know what happens but with chunks missed out
  • wasted money for renting the film
How do you put a price on this inconvenience?

Yes, we've had the odd film from them like that - one recent one was actually cracked when it arrived. However, overall they've been good - send out a film as soon as you register a problem - so I suppose there's not much more they can do - they can't magic one to you right away.

I don't know if there is a price for the inconvenience - it is a chance you take with an online company. even if you went to a B&M rental place, you'd still have the inconvenience and expense (petrol) to go back and get a refund or exchange. It all wastes your time and it's pretty unlikely you'd be refunded your travel, time costs.

I've been using Lovefilm since I joined when Sainsburys were offering film rental and then it was taken on by Lovefilm. I can't really say, I have had too many unwatchable film, perhaps 10 in total. You can only complain to them - they may send an extra film or two off your list.

    Surely all is not lost.

    How about:
    a) Watch something else
    b) Listen to some music
    c) Read a book

Only ever had the occasional disc with a problem. If your getting more than that I would have a look at your DVD player as this could be the reason

The "price" as you put it would be equivalent to another rental, free of charge.

If Lovefilm supplies unlimited rentals in return for a monthly fee then there is not a "price" as such.

I watched Run Fatboy Run on terrestrial TV last night, It was rather good.

Remeber that lovefilm etc are just a short stop on the route to direct download-to-view films. In a few years we'll all be renting through the net, apple tv style.

Lovefilm already operate in such a way (in HD if you want to) through sony's new TVs.

If every film you get is freezing, it would be worth checking your DVD player, or even trying to clean the disk. Take a look at it, if it's a bit scratched, give it a bit of a polish with some scratch remover and see if that helps.
