Mexico is lovely - March is a good time to go - I would avoid Cancun (visit for the day for shopping & perhaps the night) - but stay in Playa Del Carmen/Playacar/Riviera Maya/Akumal area.

I've been twice and have a mate who lives out there in Playa. Stayed at Viva Azteca which is a nice 3 1/2 star/nearly 4star hotel - with Direct hols/Airtours. Expect to pay about £750/£800 if you book nearer the time. Beach isn't as good after the 2 big hurricanes there last year.

Just came back in May and stayed at Sandos Playacar (Gala) Resort (different to the Sandos Carocal mentioned above). We booked this 2 weeks before we went and paid £640 each 2 weeks AI - very good 4* hotel, branded drinks, good facilities, very good hotel.

I suggest booking your holiday nearer the time than now - you will save alot of money that way. First choice (or there direct company Eclipse) have very good deals. Also Direct Holidays and Thomas Cook have good late deals to Mexico.

On Playacar strip - the beach is great and hardly untouched by the hurricanes from Riu Playacar working back to the Sandos Playacar (last in the strip).

Any other questions be happy to help.

    Enjoy.

All the Rui's are nice hotels. The Iberostars are great hotels too.

Hi there, in reference to one of the above deals, the Riu Tequila often comes out cheaper than the other Rius in Playacar as it is not actually on the beach but a 10 min walk or 5 min trolley ride to the shared beach at the Riu Yucatan - where I myself stayed last year. Lovely complex of hotels though.
