    Isn't the 'l' just a basic model?

Have you tried the Ford website? Look for an authorised dealer and that should give examples of the cars they have for sale - hopefully the year/model you are talking about, including the specs.

    Power Steering
    Perhaps electric windows
    Perhaps CD
    Perhaps Air Con
Probably knackered wishbones, top mounts & rotted sills
  • Don't buy a KA suspension is rubbish

L usually does stand for litre and may well do but in this case I would hazard a guess at it being a typo or misread by OP and it being a number ie 1.

Ka originally were tagged as 1, 2 ,3 with 1 being the basic model and although this has changed now could be that it was a 1 back in 2002 (my memory isnt that great). I think they now go with the same line up as the rest of Ford ie zetec, etc.

Ka's were cheap and cheerful and at entry spec (which could be picked up for less than 5k new (until new model came in last year) you got very little as standard.

It came with a radio and a tape player (yep until a couple of years ago it still had a tape as Ford had to shift all the old units they had contracted to buy years ago.

Power steering probably standard from 2002 on all models.

    Steel rather than alloy wheels.
Air con an optional extra at £500 quid
Think 2002 cars had just moved over to body colour bumpers rather than the samsonite case material used on the originals.
    Manual windows
Some rather dodgy seat covering designs as well.

All previous points alluding to mechanical probs in an 8 year old Ka should be heeded. They were cheap and cheerful but an 8 year old car has probably had several owners. However some are used as second cars with low miles and even garaged. I saw one recently that was 10 years old with only 6,500 miles on the clock but they are the exception to the rule.

Get it inspected if you dont know what your looking for.

In terms of engines -there wasnt any choice in 2002 all had the same petrol engine and manual gearbox.
