Reupholstering a Reid Sofa

not exactly sure firstly if this is the right place for this thread or secondly the process for getting my old reid sofa upholstered!

we inherited it from my folks, it must be 10/12 years old now and is looking worn. will reid be my best bet to get new covers for it or can anyone point me in the direction of new covers for it?

many thanks

unless its very special i wouldnt bother.
even covers are very expensive, try plumbs.
and a proper reupholsterer is even more expensive.
itll be better/cheaper to buy a new sofa.
    Get some gorm.

its ot that special but financially i didnt want to buy 2 new sofas!

seems that your right though, from what i can gather from the net reupholstering is going to be £200/300 minimium when i can probably get a couple of sofas from ikea for double that

    hows your diy skills?
if the wife can use a sewing machine, you could buy the material for say 100 quid and try diy.
just take apart the covering and use that as a pattern, to make up the new covering.
a good staple gun and glue is pretty essential.

im a joiner to trade so diy wise im terrible:D

i have found a place local to where i stay that reupholsters so ill get a quote from them and see how it goes! either that or sewing classes could be order of the day!

im surprised that its such an expensive thing, i thought i would be able to buy something ready made and just fit it myself- it seems that its just a loose covering thats on it now!

thanks for your help though bud i appreciate it
