Woeful Estate Agent

Hi,

My estate agent has been useless so far, and i was wondering if i could barter them down on the amount i pay them.

They came around and took the photos of the house and assured me the house would be on the website the next day. 9 days later it still wasnt on.
They eventaully managed to get it on the website but the price was wrong, and there were no measurements.
2 days later they corrected the price, but now a month later there are still no measurements and the description is 1 sentence.

The paper brochures had the wrong prices again.
The advert in the paper had the wrong price.
The advert in the shop window had the wrong price.
The advert on rightmove had no pictures until last week.

All the paperwork they sent troguh has wrong prices and wrong names.
They said they were too busy to do viewings i had to do them all myself.

i went on holiday and gave them instructions and a set of keys.
They lost the keys...
The house sold while i was away, the buyers surveyor was told by the EA that i would show them around despite the fact i was on holiday??

Now the sale agreement thing has come through and there are mistakes.. my name is wroung and its addressed to me and the buyer and not me and my partner.

They are driving mad

is there anything i can do?

They sound totally incompetant, the will give you a hard time about the fact that you have signed a contract agreeing to their fees, hold your ground, if they don't come to a satisfactory agreement then go higher, head office if they are a corporate!

I agree wholeheartedly here. This is awful. Talk to or write to the EA and explain why you are unhappy. They'll soon pull their socks up if they think you might take your business elsewhere. If I realised this was happening in my agency I would not be happy. Give them the chance to rectify the situation. Go to the highest rung of the ladder in the first instance. If this doesn't work and you happen to be in Hereford let me know!!

Thanks for the info..
im going to make a list tomorrow of all their failings with dates and times,..

the only problem is the house has sold..so they probably see it as job done :mad: but it has old inspite of them .. just becasue its a good first time buyers house at the right price and very good condition.

Technically they have done their job, finding you a buyer, however I would argue that the job is half done, the sale has been agreed but it is yet to go thru. I would complain to the highest possible level over the (poor) service you have received. Compalin sooner rather than later.

You have signed a contract with them, does it say in the contract or in any of the marketing blurb they may have given as to the level of service you could expect from them? If do, make sure you have this to hand when speaking to someone.

Mistakes do happen and many people accept that, but you seem to be dealing with an incompetetant agent. Curious, is it one person or the entire office that is this incompetant.
