So yesterday someone phoned me saying they were from job centre ( future job fund) and they had found a vacancy and they asked for my ni number and date of birth.. And i gave it to her.. Dont know why i did that i'm usually very wary of giving details..she said that she'd email the details and application form or something like that. I was in hurry then so I did everything quickly so had no time to think what so ever.. but i never received the email and i'm thinking it might have been a scam what should i do. Weekend so I cant call tjobcentre… ..D: Is there anywhere i can call to report?

looks like you will have to wait till monday to speak to jc+,but i doubt very much harm can be done meanwhile with just your dob and n.i. number.

If they have your dob and NI no. and phone number and name (presumably) and (probably) your address then they can do damage.

If it was really someone you know and who knows a lot about you and was pretending to be the jc, then he/she can purport to be you. Check that you still have your credit/debit cards safe.

I would be more worried about being forced into a 6 month dead end job via the future job fund with no prospect of any job after the six month, who says slave labour has ended.

I take it you are under 25 and have been unemployed for 9 month and are therefore eligable for the future job funding?

Something similar happened to me. It is amazing how your guard can drop when someone calls unexpectedly.

Would not surprise me if the caller already knew your date of birth and NI No and just wanted you to confirm it.

It is early days yet so hopefully all will become clear on Monday.

Should not worry too much at the moment.

Future jobs fund vacancies are not advertised for all to apply for, only JCP staff get them and are expected to 'job match'. They would of needed you to confirm you NINO and BOD to ensure they were talking to the right person.
