Loss at my debt

I am at my wits end, I have tried everywhere to build up my debt level to something that is completely unmanageable, but as of yet I have been unable to break the £1,000 barrier.
I wake up everyday thinking if I only bought that, I would at least spend the next few years struggling to pay it off.
Last month, when I paid my card off in full, I had to tell the good lady to get out and at least spend some money on new clothes. The fool only bought me some new cycling shorts and a tee-shirt.
How does she expect me to lead a normal life and swig ale every weekend if we just cannot build up our debt.
Please help, my wife is a poor student with the OU and I have only been working 4 years since uni mysen.

Try kids, car, mortgage, pension, redundancy if you wish to struggle with your finances. You did not mention your savings situation.

Oh, I forgot to mention the Kid. Sorry.
Oh, I forgot to mention that if I had any debt in 1996, I would not have been able to go to university and pay the mortgage at the same time whilst the wife only earned £6,000 a year. (me nothing). I was off sick for most of 1995 and then unemployed! I am now disabled!!!
Oh, and I forgot, we do have two cars
Oh, and I forgot the wife is now doing the OU and she earns £4,000 a year.
Oh, and I forgot I earn £21,000 a year.
Oh, and I forgot the pension
Oh, and I forgot the mortgage £550
Oh, and I forgot the Gas, Electr, water and Telephones
Oh, and I forgot the Internet.
Oh, and basically when the good lady comes home later, we shall get on our bikes, mit brat, and go the pub, have something to eat and swig. still have change from £30.
Oh, and tommorow me and braticus primera are off to the footy £28.
Oh, and my banks current account at the end of the month will pay me about £2.40 for the privilliege of paying my bills on time, write a nice letter offering me more money, and not make money of me.
Now, who is the ***0 -
I can spend £1,000 of anyones money no problem. Ask Mr Judi0

OK, Judi go to Cadburys site, http://www.cadbury.co.uk/EN/CTB2003/
and have some on me !!
PS, the goodlady may finish them off before you though!0 -
Pension situation seemed a little vague. Life insurance provision was not mentioned. Neither was coucil tax, road tax, road insurance, petrol, Garage bills, car finance payments, television licence, or you savings for emergencies.
Clearly you are a model citizen with lots of advantages to gloat about to the poor unfortunate soles who have thrown their money away. Perhaps you can contribute in a more constructive way to those who read this site.
Dont forget to wear those shorts.

PS have you considered your wifes tax position it might be worthwhile puttting your joint savings in her name.0 -

Cheers Freddie, just what i needed right now - pure comfort food!!!!0 -
Using tax free cash ISAs at the moment, cannot save much as all is needed for her OU courses in reality.
Other money from her job goes straight into a save as you earn scheme, (£50 a month), this pushes her income to less than what she would be taxed on.
Other small savings are for doing the pad up, braticus primera quite usefull with a hammer!
Pension, is a company scheme. Life insurance pointless when its free with the pension. (cannot get too much being disabled, so it realy is pointless!)0 -
