Paving / flagging quote

Lancashire
Quote of £1600 for paving an area 24 square metres,
includes breaking up old tarmac, removal from site, supplying and laying plain concrete flags, 600mm x 600mm, for pedestrian use only. Presumably on sand bed. This seems a lot of money? Am I being tight?

small jobs like these can cost what you are saying, it depends on the shape, drainage and access.
for exapmple a square area next to the road with no drainage issues and a grass digg off would be 900 ish, but could be double for a shaped area with poor access to the rear of a house and no nearby drains.

(beware if they are just laying on sand- my old company tried it 20 years ago as an experiment and all the paving i've seen from that era has dipped and moved now. concrete is the only foundation for flags)
